The Oblate Sisters of the Society of Saint Pius X: Who are they?
Founded in 1973, the Oblate Sisters of the Society of Saint Pius X are one of the families wanted by Archbishop Lefebvre, along with priests, brothers, sisters and members of the Third Order.
They depend directly on the Superior General of the Society, currently Don Davide Pagliarani, and his delegate, Father Christian Bouchacourt, second assistant to the Superior General. In the houses to which they are sent, the prior is their direct superior.
Originally, the Oblate family welcomed mostly religious women who had left their congregation won over by modernism. Later, they were joined by mature people who wanted to leave the world and devote themselves to the service of the Society. Finally, younger people presented themselves, called to the specific Oblate vocation.
It was in response to this need that the first Oblate novitiate was founded. St. Theresa’s Novitiate opened in Menzingen, before being transferred to Salvan, not far from the seminary in Ecône. In 2018, a second novitiate, under the protection of Our Lady of Sorrows, was opened in Davao, Philippines.
