How Devotion to the Virgin Mary
Helped Save Poland and Europe
in the 17th Century
by Mr. Jean-Paul Reymont Poninski

Three major events in the history of Poland had a major effect on the defense of Christian civilization in Europe: the miracle of the Black Madonna over the Protestant Swedes who attacked the fortress-shrine at Czestochowa in 1655, the proclamation of Mary as Queen of Poland in the cathedral in Lwow in 1656, and the defeat of the Islamic Turks by the Polish King, Jan Sobieski, and the forces of the Duke of Lorraine in Vienna in 1683.
Jean-Paul Reymont Poninski is a former Instructor in Philosophy and Philosophy of Law at the University of Maryland’s European Division in Belgium. He has also taught courses on Ethics in Law and Education at St Petersburg College in Clearwater, Florida. He has had several articles published.
