A Rosary in reparation for the Anglican Vespers at Saint Peter’s Basilica

On Monday, March 13, 2017, Anglican Vespers were celebrated in the Basilica of Saint Peter in Rome; presiding was David Moxon, director of the Anglican Center in Rome, with the participation of Abp. Arthur Roche, Sescretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, who gave a homily. This Anglican ceremony took place after the visit by Pope Francis, on February 26, to the Anglican parish in Rome, and five months before an ecumenical Vespers ceremony by Pope Francis and the Anglican Justin Welby in the Basilica of San Gregorio al Celio in Rome.

Rightly indignant about this Anglican ceremony in the basilica that is the heart of Christendom, around 80 faithful Catholics recited a Rosary of public reparation at the entrance to Saint Peter’s Square, after attending the Mass ad tollendum schism [for an end to schism] in the chapel of the Society of Saint Pius X in Rome.

After this profession of faith, the faithful, directed by the Militia of the Immaculate and accompanied by several priests from the Priory in Albano, distributed to passers-by leaflets explaining the impact of such an ecumenical gesture and the significance of their prayer of reparation.
