During a press briefing, the Premier of Quebec, Mr. François Legault, ordered the extension of the containment in effect since December 17 and the establishment of a curfew from January 9 to February 8, 2021 from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Places of worship will have to close except for funerals which will be limited to 10 persons.

All public masses are cancelled in Quebec as of this Sunday, January 9, 2021.

An infringement to the rights of Catholic faithful

We denounce here an infringement to the rights of Catholic faithful to freely participate in the Mass. The civil power does not have the right to deprive Catholics of their churches. The freedom of worship of Catholics is a fundamental right. At a time when we hear so much talk about human rights, here is a fundamental human right: the right to practice publicly, socially, the true religion. And this right is inalienable, no one can take it away from us.

Today's apostate states unilaterally decide to prohibit or restrict the practice of religion in the name of health. We are therefore forced to tolerate or patiently bear these unjust decisions, contrary to supernatural prudence.

In no case can the faithful Catholics be held to a true act of obedience to these unjust laws, which in reality remain an abuse of power.

The Masses at Saint-Césaire and Toronto will be broadcast live this Sunday.
